Family plans in Barcelona

BabaMap is a map with 648 things to do with kids in Barcelona. Parks and playgrounds near wherever you are, museums and indoor activities for rainy days, places where they play and you get a coffee, city farms and allotments, workshops and playrooms, and neighbourhood festivals with their children's programme. Each plan tells you what ages it works for, whether it's free or how much it costs, and what you'll find when you get there.

It's built to answer the same old question —what do we do with the kids today— without opening fifteen tabs. Open the map and see what's nearby, filter by age, price or day, or start with one of our guides, where we gather everything on a single topic: free plans, indoor plans, or the children's programme of each Festa Major. There are plans in all ten districts of Barcelona.

Barcelona's easiest free Saturday plan: open school playgrounds

If you're wondering what to do with kids on a Saturday morning in your neighbourhood, start with the open playgrounds of Barcelona's municipal nursery schools (escoles bressol): every Saturday from 10:30 to 13:00, October to May, they open their playgrounds to any family. It's free, open entry, for children aged 0 to 6, and there are schools in all ten districts of Barcelona.

On top of that, a free storyteller tours the playgrounds: each school has its own Saturday, at 11:30. Our guide has every detail: each school with its address, photo and story day, plus the full calendar sorted by date.

Frequently asked questions

What to do with kids in Barcelona when it rains?
BabaMap lists 136 indoor plans. Museums with something for little ones, such as Paradox museum, MUEC - Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món, and La Pedrera; play centres and family spaces where they play with other children their age; and libraries and civic centres with children's activities, nearly always free. Open the map to see which ones are closest to you.
What free things are there to do with kids in Barcelona?
490 of the 648 plans on the map are free: parks and playgrounds, libraries with storytelling and workshops, civic centres, council-run play centres, urban gardens and farms. We give priority to non-profit spaces that offer free plans to families.
Where are the playgrounds in Barcelona?
We have 219 parks and playgrounds on the map. The district with the most is Sant Martí, with 122. Almost every listing tells you what ages the playground suits and what equipment it has, so you can choose before leaving home.
What can I do with kids on a Saturday morning in my neighbourhood?
A free and easy option is the open playgrounds of the nursery schools (escoles bressol): every Saturday from 10:30 to 13:00 they open for children aged 0 to 6 and their families, with open entry, in all ten districts of Barcelona. Each school also hosts a free storytelling session at 11:30 on one Saturday of the school year. Find the one in your neighbourhood in our open-playgrounds guide.
What to do with babies in Barcelona?
With babies, family spaces and 0-3 play centres work really well: room to crawl, toys for their age and other families with little ones just as small. On the map you can filter by age from 0, and many listings tell you whether there is a changing table and room for the pushchair.
What to do with kids in Barcelona this weekend?
We keep a selection of weekend plans: neighbourhood festivals, shows, workshops and what's open from Friday to Sunday. And on the map, the «Today» button shows what's on today.
Who makes BabaMap?
We are a Barcelona family with two little ones, aged 0 and 2. BabaMap grew out of what we were missing when going out with them: knowing before we got there whether there was a changing table, shade or room for the pushchair, instead of finding out on arrival. That's why every plan comes with detailed, checked information. We give priority to non-profit spaces offering free plans to families, without forgetting the great experiences that turn into memories. And the name? Our dog is called Bali, and our eldest daughter, when she started talking, called him «Baba».
