How the Hostafrancs Festival works
It is co-organised by the Federació d’Hostafrancs and the Sants-Montjuïc District, with the neighbourhood’s associations and schools. The spine is Carrer Vilardell, home to the parade, the Ball de Rams and the children’s afternoon on Friday the 9th. Close by are Plaça Joan Pelegrí (Firajoc and magic), Plaça Herenni, the corner of Consell de Cent and Torre d’en Damians, and the Casinet d’Hostafrancs civic centre on Carrer Rector Triadó. All the children’s plans in the programme are free.
🎪 Ràdio Hostafrancs has an app on its website with the whole programme, which you can filter by day and by type of activity, including “infantil” (children’s).
See everything on Carrer VilardellSaturday 3 and Sunday 4: Firajoc, magic and the Medieval Fair
Saturday the 3rd starts at 12 noon with magic, clowns and entertainment at the corner of Consell de Cent and Torre d’en Damians. In the afternoon, Plaça Joan Pelegrí hosts the 28th Firajoc at 4 pm, with game stations for every child, and Bas Molina’s magic show at 5.30 pm. On Sunday the 4th at 10.30 am, the children’s painting contest starts on Carrer Sant Roc (up to age 5 and ages 6 to 11, prizes at 1 pm) and the parade with the Gegants del Pi giants sets off from Vilardell. At 11.30 am there is an origami workshop in Plaça Herenni, and at 11.45 am the junior group of the Bastoneres de Sants stick dancers performs on Vilardell.
🎪 That weekend the 20th Medieval Fair takes over Carrer de la Creu Coberta with a market, shows and craft demonstrations. The programme promises children’s activities all day but does not say which ones or when.
See the Firajoc on Saturday the 3rdTuesday 6 to Saturday 10: children’s festival, circus and the kids’ proclamation
On Tuesday the 6th the Casinet d’Hostafrancs holds its children’s festival: songs and face painting with La Tribu Gigi at 5.15 pm and the show Descontes by the Creart group at 6.30 pm. On Thursday the 8th at 7.30 pm the Casinet hosts Banaba Flup, a comic circus show about climate change. Friday the 9th is the little ones’ afternoon on Carrer Vilardell: hot chocolate at 5.15 pm, the children’s proclamation at 5.45 pm by pupils of the Centre Montserrat-Xavier and a show by Bon Vent at 6 pm. On Saturday the 10th at 10 am, the BAM basketball school runs an introductory basketball workshop for children at the corner of Consell de Cent and Torre d’en Damians.
🎪 The children’s proclamation aims to give the neighbourhood’s children a voice so they take part directly in the festival: this year it is given by pupils of the Centre Montserrat-Xavier.
See the children’s proclamation on Friday the 9thAfternoon snack and hot chocolate
The programme lists two: on Friday the 2nd at 4.30 pm, the Passeig estel·lar turns Carrer Leiva (between Àliga and Hostafrancs de Sió) into a space journey, with a snack open to the neighbourhood and the show Danses Esbojarrades; and on Friday the 9th at 5.15 pm, the children’s hot chocolate on Carrer Vilardell, just before the children’s proclamation.
See the hot chocolate on Friday the 9thCorrefoc: there is no children’s one
This year the programme has no children’s correfoc. The fire comes on Saturday the 3rd: at 8 pm, a static correfoc by the Diables de Sants at Carrer Sant Roc and Vilardell, and at 10 pm, fire juggling by Pendrafoc on Carrer Diputació. If you have little ones, that same afternoon the Firajoc (4 pm) and Bas Molina’s magic (5.30 pm) are two streets away.
🎪 If you stay to watch the fire with children: cotton clothes, a cap, closed shoes and ear protection, and it is best to watch from a distance.

Everything fits in a buggy walk: Carrer Vilardell, Plaça Joan Pelegrí, Plaça Herenni and the corner of Consell de Cent and Torre d’en Damians are a few minutes’ walk from one another, and the Casinet, on Carrer Rector Triadó, sits next to the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial. The Medieval Fair takes over Carrer de la Creu Coberta, which crosses the neighbourhood end to end.
The programme does not publish transport or facilities information. The nearest metro stop is Hostafrancs (L1), on Carrer de la Creu Coberta itself. The Casinet events (Tuesday the 6th and Thursday the 8th) are indoors; everything else is on the street.
Mum to mum: if you can only go one day, make it Saturday the 3rd. In the morning, the 12 noon magic; in the afternoon, the Firajoc and Bas Molina’s magic in Plaça Joan Pelegrí, with a stroll through the Medieval Fair in between. And save Friday the 9th at 5.15 pm: hot chocolate, the children’s proclamation and Bon Vent, all on Carrer Vilardell and before dinner.
